Gamma.app: We tried the paid version – is it worth it?
4. 5. 2025

Gamma.app is an AI application that promises fast and efficient creation of professional presentations, documents, websites, and social media posts using artificial intelligence. We decided to test the paid version of the app to see how it can help us, how it streamlines our work, and where its current limitations lie.
Quick Presentation Creation Although Gamma offers a variety of features, we’ve so far focused exclusively on creating presentations. The app can swiftly turn your concise text or imported file into a high-quality visual presentation.

What it does well – and what it still can’t handle
Great features:
Speed vs. quality – Gamma is perfect for presentations with the mandate “yesterday was too late.”
Automatic generation of visually appealing slides. Presentations look stylish, layouts are modern, and the overall impression is clean and professional.
AI-powered image creation, a great solution if you don’t have your own visuals.
Seamless branding integration. You can build a custom template with your corporate colors, fonts and logo.
Mobile support. You can draft a presentation on your commute or while waiting at the doctor’s office.
Where we still hit limits:
Poor handling of your own images. You can’t easily embed them in Gamma, so you end up spending as much time inserting them as in PowerPoint.
Export issues. Exporting to PPTX or PDF strips away styling, and PPTX files often suffer formatting glitches. It’s better to share the online link.
Inconsistent AI image style. Unless you specify a style in at least one sentence, not all generated images will match.
What the paid version offers vs. the free one Gamma has three tiers—Free, Plus and Pro. The Free plan gives you 400 credits (about 10 presentations).
Creating a presentation: 40 credits
Additional AI edits (e.g. text rewriting, chatbot use): 10 credits each.

Tips for Achieving Better Results:
Learn the new tool: It’ll take a bit of time to get familiar with the app’s interface, so we recommend watching a tutorial video on YouTube.
Use structured text: If you feed Gamma a polished outline from another AI tool (e.g. ChatGPT), it handles the presentation much more effectively.
Keep the design clean for better comprehension: Avoid slides overloaded with text—stick to key points paired with a single visual element.
Add interactive elements: Embedding videos, GIFs, or clickable links makes your presentation more dynamic and helps maintain audience attention.
Leverage Gamma Analytics for improvement: After your presentation, review the analytics to understand how your audience interacted with each slide.
Watch out for large PDF sizes: Files can become too big to email as attachments. We recommend sharing via an online link, similar to Google Slides.
Free-Version Demo in Action Using ChatGPT (“Write me an outline for a presentation on: How to Make Your Presentation More Engaging. Assign an example to each point.”), I generated an outline that I then pasted into Gamma. I selected one of the built-in themes and let the app work its magic. The entire process took me about 10 minutes, and you can see the result in the video below.
You can view another presentation based on the same assignment here, with the only change being that it retains all of the text from the brief.
In conclusion: Is the paid version worth it? Gamma definitely speeds up and enhances the presentation-creation process. If you’re looking for visually attractive outputs without needing graphic-design skills, the paid version is a great choice. Just be aware of certain limitations when working with your own images and when exporting.
At Marketup, we use presentations most often for client performance reports and tenders, where we have a premium Google Slides template with our own graphic assets from our creative team. Unfortunately, these elements can’t be imported into Gamma, so we use the app for internal purposes.
Give Gamma.app a try and let me know how you liked the new app or where you got stuck.
